Yoga & Meditation:

We are proud to offer individual/private or group yoga and meditation sessions, including:

Compassionate Yoga for Grief and Loss

Compassionate Yoga for Grief and Loss offers an accessible way for grieving individuals to allow the ancient wisdom of Yoga to transform their current grief experience. While the sometimes grief-illiterate world at large might encourage grievers to "get on with their lives," Yoga for Grief and Loss instead offers an invitation to sit with, embrace, and grow through grief.

Trauma Conscious Yoga

Trauma (big or small) is experience, or experiences, we hold in our bodies, affecting the nervous system. Movement — here specifically yoga— helps move that stuck trauma.

Dawn offers a gentle yoga class, grounded in choice, with a rhythm of engage, integrate, rest. This trauma-informed class offers space to reclaim and befriend your body, specifically aimed to support healing from post-traumatic stress (PTSD), and the challenges that come along with it, such as anxiety, depression, or being “stuck.” Movement, breath-work, meditation, sound healing, and journaling are used to move stuck trauma.

Trauma Conscious Yoga classes emphasize creating a safe and supportive environment, allowing participants to make choices about their practice, and integrating mindfulness and breath work to promote healing.

Gentle Yoga

Gentle yoga is a mild and accessible form of yoga that prioritizes slow, flowing movements and relaxed postures.  It is suitable for all fitness levels, with movement and postures designed to reduce stress, increase self-awareness and build strength and balance, making it a soothing practice for both beginners and those seeking a more serene yoga experience.

Yin Yoga

Yin is a slow-paced and meditative style where poses are held for an extended period of time, often three to five minutes or more.  The focus is on relaxing the muscles in order to target the deeper connective tissues and joints. This practice aims to increase flexibility, release tension, and promote a sense of calm.

Yoga Nidra

Yoga Nidra, or yogic sleep as it is commonly known, is an immensely powerful meditation and relaxation technique.  Participants lie down in a comfortable position and the instructor leads them through a process of guided relaxation, body awareness, and visualization.  While remaining aware, participants enter a state between wakefulness and sleep, promoting deep relaxation and rejuvenation.

Crystal Bowl Sound Therapy

Sound has been utilized in various cultures for thousands of years as a tool for healing. Crystal Bowl Sound Therapy is a therapeutic practice where crystal singing bowls are played to produce soothing sounds and vibrations. The resonant tones are believed to promote relaxation, balance energy, and facilitate healing on physical, emotional, and spiritual levels, or simply -  to move us from a place of imbalance to a place of balance.

Labyrinth

A walking meditation technique, offered at Dawn’s own outdoor labyrinth.  Walking a labyrinth is a symbolic journey, representing self-discovery, reflection, and spiritual growth. You may engage in labyrinth walking as a mindfulness practice, seeking relaxation, clarity, or a meditative experience as you navigate the winding path.

All classes include some form of breath work, meditation, and sound healing:

  • Breath WorkBreath work in yoga, known as “pranayama,” involves conscious control and regulation of breath to enhance physical, and spiritual well-being. It focuses on various breathing techniques, such as deep belly breathing or alternate nostril breathing, to promote relaxation, mindfulness, and energy balance.
  • Meditation – Experience benefits of reduced stress, improved awareness, and greater happiness.  Enjoy a guided meditation that transforms by inducing relaxation and healing of the mind, body, and spirit.
  • Sound Healing - Sound has been utilized in various cultures for thousands of years as a tool for healing. Whether through the use of mantras as with the Hindis, or other forms, the various techniques all have the same intention: to move us from a place of imbalance to a place of balance.
